Help Valkyrie Bring Erik the Red to Life!
Donation protected
We opened our doors on Feb 1st, 2020, with high expectations and an incredible response from our community. For the first two months things had gone spectacularly well, but as COVID-19 reached Orange County we saw our business drop by over 75% and we have no certainty of when things can resume again.
While things were going well, we also found out that we qualified for a grant to get a new coffee roaster (Erik the Red) that was more capable of handling the volume our shop required. We were required to pay 25% of the cost of the machine, which seemed possible at the time, and also required a very expensive installation which we planned for based on where our sales were prior to the pandemic.
(Erik The Red, our new Ambex YM5 Roaster)
We've now hit a massive roadblock. With savings from only a month and a half of being open needing to be used just to stay open, we now have a massive paperweight in our shop that we are depending on to be able to keep running. Without this new roaster, we are struggling keep up with the orders we depend on to stay open, but we don't have the means to install the roaster any time in the near future.
We know that we are only a small number of the millions of people hurt and affected by this outbreak, and have decided to give the first dollar of any donation over $10 to the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley. We also hope to encourage anybody reading this to donate there as well, as we know there are thousands of hungry families without work and food because of this horrible shutdown.
