COVID-19 changed all of our daily routines, but, with the exception of those who are sick and those who care for them, it has likely affected the food and tip worker industries the most. Since March 16, NC has ordered all restaurants and bars to convert to take-out only until at least 4/30, which has resulted in some restaurants to close altogether, our beloved Valhalla among them.

We're a group of people dedicated to assisting the workers at our local after work bar, Valhalla, which we've been attending once a week for over five years. Since all restaurants are closed, these people would struggle to find other jobs, and none that would be in their industry. North Carolina unemployment does not account for tips when calculating payout. The federal government has boosted unemployment, and provides assistance to companies to maintain payroll, but this may not be enough, and there will be a lag time until this law goes into affect, a lag time through which  our friends will struggle with rent, utilities, necessities, child care, and other bills. If you're lucky enough, like us, to be unaffected or only mildly affected by this crisis, and can spare the goodwill, we'd appreciate you helping us help our favorite bar staff through this.

After all, we're all going to need a drink when this is over.
