Valery's New Beginnings: Seeking Support for a Safe Move

Hello there! I'm Valery, and I'm reaching out with an urgent and unexpected need. Due to recent changes in migration policies for Venezuelans in the U.S., I've been left in a legal limbo where leaving the country is now my only viable option. With a looming mid-August deadline, I'm asking my network of loved ones for support in covering the cost of reallocating elsewhere before I face the risk of deportation.
I arrived in the United States in 2019 with a full scholarship to study at Wheaton College Massachusetts. While I initially came on a student visa, the pandemic and the evolving crisis in Venezuela led me to apply for Temporary Protection Status (TPS) for an additional layer of legal protection once my student visa expired. In 2023, I proudly graduated from college with a double major in Sociology and International Relations, secured a job in the DEI industry, and have diligently stayed compliant with all TPS and work permit requirements.
However, TPS status for Venezuelans has been revoked, and I have until mid-August to either leave the country or transition to a different legal status. After carefully considering all my options and what would be best for my physical and mental health, I've decided to move to São Paulo, Brazil. Brazil's welcoming migratory policies offer me the chance to easily become a legal resident and have a safe path to citizenship in the near future.
Unfortunately, after being let go from my job early this year, I've been struggling to make ends meet and simply don't have the funds to cover an international move. This is why I desperately need your help to cover the essential costs of this relocation.
Breakdown of Costs
- Flight tickets to Brazil (for me and my three cats): est. $2,000
- Partial cover of my last month's rent in the United States: est. $1,000
- Purchase of suitcases and TSA-approved carriers: est. $300
- Passports for my cats: est. $300
- Three months of initial living expenses in São Paulo while I find a job: est. $2,800
- Paperwork and legal fees for the resettling process in Brazil: est. $300
I deeply appreciate any support you can offer, whether you're able to donate or simply share my campaign with your network. Thank you for being a part of my journey during this challenging time.
With love and gratitude,
Milo, Mark, Psycho and Valery.
