Valerie's Wish: A Tractor for Jane

Hello!

My name is Valerie, and below, you will find a small piece of my partner, Jane's, wonderful story.

Jane Lively is a 28-year-old organic vegetable and flower farmer who created, and has since managed The Lively Farm, 8 years ago.

At just 20 years old, Jane chose to follow their dream of feeding their local community responsibly, of creating a business that is steadfast, reliable, and honest, and Jane has done just that.

Jane's impact can be felt ubiquitously among Northern Michigan's Leelanau County community and beyond. Whether it's in the flowers at the center of the table at your favorite local restaurant, or the food on your plate, there is a good chance that you also witness the bountiful and beautiful harvest of Jane's tireless efforts.

Anyone who I have talked to after stepping foot on The Lively Farm, has had a very similar reaction, 'How does Jane manage this? At this level? This size?' Put simply, Jane is remarkable. I could (& often do) go on and on.

Which brings me to the subject at hand: For the last 8 years, Jane has been operating without one of the most crucial and helpful pieces of farm equipment: a tractor. She has been lucky enough to rent tractors from within the local farming community, but as the farm continues to grow, Jane has been left many times struggling to complete the tasks that are meant to be assisted by machinery. For instance, moving compost, tilling, clearing and shaping beds, etc.

This has become increasingly difficult on Jane both physically and mentally.

My greatest wish is to raise money for Jane to officially own her very own Lively Farm tractor. I am raising money for Jane to purchase a compact Kubota tractor with a duty bucket, pallet fork, mower, and tiller attachments. This tractor would assist Jane daily, it would allow her to continue her work as the honorable and incredible farmer that she is and continues to prove herself to be.

I am hoping to spread the word near and far, it would mean so much to Jane and me if you could contribute to this in any way possible, monetarily or by simply spreading the word!
