Friends, family and colleagues of Valerie Erickson,

As you know, we lost Valerie after her long, valiant fight against cancer. Valerie lived her life with a heart filled with joy and a smile as bright and persistent as the sun. Her always-vibrant daughter, Harmony, and her husband Steve, were the center of her universe, followed closely by her many friends and students she made in her career as a musician and educator.

Valerie fought with more tenacity than anyone we have ever known to be a loving mother to Harmony for as long as she possibly could, and she did so with irrepressible optimism—never once faltering in her faith and gratitude for every single extra day she got to share with her beloved daughter and husband.

Now, Harmony and Steve need us, our community, in this unimaginable time as they navigate the expenses and grief that accompany Valerie's passing.
