An amazing couple on Valentine's Day were going down a country road and saw a dog on the side of the road. The dog was a female bull mastiff who was severely emaciated, lethargic and scared. It was a heartbreaking for them to see so they pulled over to catch her. It took hours for her to finally trust them and come close. They quickly noticed a huge tumor growing on her chest. She seemed sweet and just about to give up hope for a future.
They went home and took to social media to try to find out if she had someone out there missing her. It eventually came to light that she had been tossed out of a U-haul and abandoned in this small town. Upon learning she did not have a loving home, the couple named her Valentine in honor of the day she was found. They began asked for help from rescues but they were full and it's going to be a expensive road for this girl to recover.
East Dallas Pet Rescue has taken her in and she went to the vet yesterday. She is approximately 8 years old and appears to have been bred her entire life. She doesn't seem to know what it's like to be loved until this amazing couple got her. She is heartworm positive. She is ONLY 81 lbs when she should be well over a 100lbs. She has a tumor around 15 lbs on her chest that needs to be removed. She is not spayed or anything of coarse. Those aren't even the biggest issue. The biggest issue yesterday was finding out that she is diabetic with a glucose level of 648. Then, Her pancreas level is 4199 which normal should be up to 1800. She needs to be immediately admited to get her diabetic issues under control.
She has a strong desire to live and comes around more and more every day. The vet was surprised for how well she is eating with all that's going on with her. Please consider donating as this dog has a desire to live and deserves to know what it feels like to be loved and cared for .
