Valentina's Medical Expenses
My newborn sister, Valentina Grace was diagnosed with varicella meningitis, which is the virus that causes chickenpox and shingles. This is extremely dangerous or even deadly in infants as young as Valentina. On March 16, 2021, Valentina was admitted into the hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, Valentina required more intensive, specialized care, and was transferred to Children's Specialized Hospital in Orlando, Florida. She required a central line (PICC line), anti-viral IV therapy and fluids, as well as 24-hour monitoring and care. Valentina is responding to treatment, but must remain in the hospital for a minimum of 21 days. She will require another lumbar puncture to see if the virus is still in her spinal fluid. If the virus is still in her spinal fluid, she will require another course of anti-viral therapy, and remain in the hospital. My mother, Kristen, has not left the hospital, and will not leave until Valentina is discharged.
Unfortunately in addition to all of this, 5 days prior to Valentina's birth, my mother was in a car accident, and her car was totaled. The total cost of Valentina's care is unknown, but the financial burden of uncovered costs is expected to be quite high. My mother will also need to get another car.
As I am sure you can imagine, this has been an incredibly stressful experience for Kristen and the family. We would like to set up this GOFUNDME to help offset the expected costs of Valentina's hospitalization, as well as help with a car. My mother has a strong faith in God.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your prayers and help at this time.
