Valentina’s Fight with Leukemia
Donation protected

On April 21, 2022, our 2-year old daughter Valentina, was diagnosed with Acute Megakaryoblastic Leukemia (AMKL). Since then, we have been In-Patient at the Childrens Hospital of Kings and Daughters for chemotherapy and close monitoring.
Three days later on April 24th, her baby brother, Adan, was born. It has been a mix of grief and joy between holding a cancer diagnosis in our hearts for our 2-year old daughter and celebrating the arrival of our newborn son.

We are unable to have Adan with us at the hospital and keep our family unit physically together during Valentina’s long stretches of treatment. This unfortunately means we are down to one income as we have to find a balance between my husband and I being at home with Adan and at the hospital with Valentina for each round of chemo.
Because of the type of leukemia Valentina was diagnosed with, she will need a bone marrow transplant that will have to be done at a different location. The added challenge is that we don’t have family in Virginia to help with Adan during the long transplant recovery process, and will need to relocate and have the procedure done in California. This means we will have to cover travel expenses on our own along with having to travel with some of our belongings.
We need the help of community to help cover:
- Travel expenses ($1,500)
- Trailer/Truck Rental ($3,000)
- Gas and mileage ($1,000)
- Formula for Adan ($300)
- Food expenses ($1,200)
- Medical Expenses ($3,000)
If you are able to, we would appreciate your help in any way, shape, or form, whether it’s donating, sharing this page, or even a prayer for our family.
Valentina doesnt quite get what’s going on but she’s adjusting to having to be at the hospital. She has been so strong through it all. She still hasn’t been able to meet her little brother but we’re hoping that soon, she will get that opportunity. We are at the end of round 1 of chemo and will soon be heading into round 2.

We are on the road to remission and we couldn’t have done it without the love and support from our family and friends.
