Family & friends,
This is Stephanie, Cindy’s younger sister. Many of you know that Cindy has been hospitalized for the past two weeks and although things seemed to be going okay for the first few days as doctors were working very hard to get her better, with a very heavy heart I share with you that she won’t.
I’d like to share with you all a few things about Cindy that many of you all know, but more of you probably don’t.
When Cindy was about 13 years old she was diagnosed with liver failure. Just a few short years later she received her first liver transplant. Then in 2013 after suffering liver failure for a second time, she also suffered from pancreas and small intestinal failure which caused her life to be on the line. Thankfully, God had other plans for her and she received a triple transplant. He gifted us with another 5 years of life with her. In that time she got to meet her nephews, Nathan & Noah. Fun fact: She and Nathan share birthdays. She called it the day we announced our pregnancy! Cindy and Nathan share a very special bond. ❤️
Currently, my family and I are in Omaha, Nebraska spending the last moments we can with her. This time around Cindy is suffering from a third liver failure, as well as kidney failure (both) of which she cannot heal from. Her body is just too sick and too weak to fight through. Doctors have shared that the option for a third transplant is not on the table for her as her body is just too weak to handle it. I wish I had better news but unfortunately I don’t.
Many of you have been reaching out with genuine concern for her and asking how she’s been doing, checking in for updates on her health status to make sure that she is okay... thank you for that. Thank you for loving her and for praying for her and our family. I have read many messages that have come in, and although she cannot respond well, know that she hears.
We are so so thankful to God for the years we have had with her! We are thankful to know that she knows she can be at peace in knowing that Christ is the One in control of everything... past, present & future.
At this time we don’t have anything else to share but as we have updates we will share them here. All we ask is for your continued prayers, love & support. We will be spending what time we have left with Cindy completely focused on her.
Lastly, from the bottom of my heart and from my family, we wanted to thank everyone who has donated to Cindy’s Gofundme page. For anyone who hasn’t and would like to help in any way, here is the link to the account that was created by our dear family friend, Sam. We really appreciate all of you!!!!
Originally the donation max was set at $5,000 because we believed Cindy would fight and make it back like times before, the $5,000 was to help her and her mom pay bills and other necessary things while they were in Nebraska. Now, things have changed. We are saying goodbye and with that comes funeral costs...:( Cindy’s sister Marienma Martinez is the one we have selected as beneficiary to help distribute the funds for funeral costs.
