Valencia Half for Alvaro
Hi everyone,
Earlier in the year we tragically lost a good friend, Alvaro who suffered a cardiac arrest whilst he was out on a run in training for the Valencia marathon.
Alvaro spent a year with us whilst studying at Coventry University and got to know a lot of us through his involvement with the Coventry University Men’s Football Club. Alvaro was kind, funny and great to be around, with an infectious personality and constant source of laughter. It’s fair to say he made a big impact on everyone during his year with us!
The three of us (George Swain, Andy Minchin and Christian Assirati) have decided to run the Valencia half marathon in memory of Alvaro on Sunday October 22nd. We are currently struggling just to organise flights and accommodation, if you wanted a representation of the magnitude of the task at hand for the three of us. Not mentioning 21 kilometres in 25 degree heat.
We have chosen to support the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), who do amazing work preventing young sudden cardiac deaths through awareness, screening and research, and supporting affected families.
More information about Cardiac Risk in the Young: Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) was established in 1995 to prevent young sudden cardiac deaths (YSCD, SADS) through awareness, screening and research; and to support affected families. CRY funds fast-track services at the CRY Centre for Inherited Cardiovascular Conditions and Sports Cardiology and the CRY Centre for Cardiac Pathology.
Any donations towards this fantastic cause would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
The boys x
