Hi!! If you do not know me my name is Val Bishop and before I get into the details I want to say THANK YOU for taking the time to read this!
I am so excited to announce that I have applied and been accepted into the Burning Hearts Discipleship Training School with the organization Youth with a Mission (YWAM)! I will be leaving in January for 6 months to attend the program in Mazatlán, Mexico!
YWAM is a global movement, full of young people driven by a passion to know God and make Him known. The Discipleship Training School is made up of two phases: Lecture Phase (Know God) and Outreach Phase (Make God Known). During the lecture phase I will have the opportunity to attend classes daily, focused on learning about who God is, and who He has created me to be! I will be getting hands on experience in local ministries and will be part of a beautiful community made up of people from all over the world. After we have completed the lecture phase we will be going out into the nations! I don't know where we will be going quite yet as we will decide as a group when I get to school in January. I could be serving on a YWAM ship for 3 months or going to Europe, Africa or Asia!
Nothing has fired me up more recently than thinking about participating in the Burning Hearts DTS with YWAM. When I came across this program, my heart was pinging! The experiences I've had in ministry the past few years has made the passion I have for missions become more clear to me. I have always wanted to help people and travel but didn't know how that would translate into my life. Have you ever heard the saying "The more you know, the more you know that you don't know?" That is how I feel about my relationship with God. The more I have been learning the more I understand that there is still so much to learn! I feel like I have only scratched the surface with my relationship with God and I cannot wait to grow through this opportunity. I cannot wait to learn more about God, his character and share all that He has done in my life.
As January will be here sooner than we know it (where the heck did this year go?) will you consider partnering with me? The two ways you can partner with me is prayer and giving!
Pray: Prayer makes a BIG difference! I understand that not everyone can give financially, but praying for my team and I while we are in Mexico and beyond is something that can fit into everyone’s budgets!
Give: If you feel led to do more than pray for the trip and can afford it, I would be so incredibly blessed by it! How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time! Any amount given no matter how big or small will help.

Lecture Phase: $3,500

Outreach Phase: $1,500-$4,500
Location: TBD
Due: February 22, 2021
Total Monthly Expenses (for the 6 months): $3,000
This will cover any extra food expenses, laundry and bills.
