My name is Michel, and I am Val’s friend from the Swedish side of the family. For those who know Val (Valence) Andrew, you already know the kind of man he is. For those who don’t, let me paint you a picture. Val is a devoted father, brother, grandfather, uncle and a loyal friend. Someone with a heart so big that everyone who meets him feels seen, heard, and cared for. He is the kind of person who would give you his last, who carries empathy and positivity everywhere he goes, and who always finds a way to lift others up—even in his own darkest moments.
In February 2025, Val’s world was shaken when he was diagnosed with colon cancer. He underwent a major surgery to remove the tumor, and shortly after, began six grueling months of intense chemotherapy. Through it all, he stayed strong, hopeful, and continued to shine his light for others. When the treatment recently ended, we all breathed a sigh of relief, thinking the worst was finally behind him.
But life had another painful turn. Shortly after finishing chemo, Val received the devastating news that the cancer had returned—this time as very aggressive rectal cancer.
This battle is not one he can fight in Saint Lucia alone. Radiation combined with chemotherapy—the treatment he urgently needs—is not available in Saint Lucia. Val must now travel to Martinique to receive care, followed by another major surgery.
Even with medical insurance, the costs are overwhelming. Travel, treatment, post-surgery care, and the countless expenses that come with fighting cancer are piling up quickly.
Val has spent his life being a source of strength and comfort to so many. Now, he needs us. We are reaching out to family, friends, and kind-hearted strangers—anyone who can find it in their heart to help. Every contribution, no matter the size, will bring Val one step closer to beating this cancer and returning to the life he loves: being a father, a friend, and that positive force we all cherish.
Please, let’s rally around Val. Together, we can help him fight, heal, and win.
