Single Mother of 2 in Need of Emergency Relief
Donation protected
Dearest community,
I'm starting this campaign on behalf of my soul sister of 20 years, Dena, who is going through the most brutal divorce. Her husband collapsed her lung March 10 2022, inciting the long-overdue divorce process. She obtained a restraining order but worked to protect him from jail time and from losing his job, and decided not to press charges. He proceeded to 'repay' her by selling away large portions of her musical catalog, her life's work.
For decades Dena has made her living with her music, and has licensed her music extensively in film and TV projects, including the theme songs for “VanderPump Rules” and “Summer House.”
During the last 2 years, Dena's spent close to $40,000 on the divorce process and is now in dire straits.
Dena is self represented, and has been using a paralegal to help her with filing and preparing documents, but really needs an actual attorney at this point, in addition to a music business attorney to address their complex issues.
However, she can barely pay the bills right now, much less defend herself with a lawyer in her divorce. Although she has managed to stay in their family home throughout their drawn out divorce, she is out of money and out of room on her credit cards. By next month she will have to choose between paying the mortgage, and feeding her two girls, much less coming up with the money to move the girls out of the family home & storing all their belongings somewhere (while they look for a new place to live). It is just way too much for a single mom to do all on her own.
I have known Dena for many years and she is a loving & selfless mother and always puts the welfare of her children, her community, and those less fortunate first.
Please help Dena pay the mortgage, feed her kids, pack up her belongings, re-locate, and complete this divorce by donating any amount you can today. She and I thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.
