Vaeden Hawkes Memorial & Expense Fund

I am reaching out on behalf of the Hawkes family to ask for assistance for the family of Vaeden Hawkes. My sister-in-law Melanie (Joe's sister) and my brother Dave, are Vaeden's aunt and uncle. I have known Vaeden his whole life through interactions at family events and get-togethers.

Vaeden was murdered at the age of 19 on April 24, 2023, in Collinsville Illinois. This tragedy profoundly affects his family, friends and the entire community.

Vaeden had a great love of music, including his favorite band Tool. He enjoyed playing sports with his childhood friends, especially basketball and soccer. He also loved to play tennis often with his sister Toby and his dad Joe. He was a blessing to his family and everyone who knew him. Vaeden enjoyed being outside surrounded by the peace of nature and bird watching which he sometimes did along with his mom Jessica. He had a kind, giving heart, showed great patience with younger children and shared a special connection with his cousins. He was a loving soul and there is nothing that could ever fill the void he has left behind.

We are asking you to consider giving support to Vaeden Hawkes family to assist them with the expenses they will incur. The funeral costs alone are $15,000 in addition to future expenses like unpaid time off work to attend the trial.
