Onze lieve vader en broer Pierre dood in Costa Rica gevonden – help ons de waarheid boven tafel te krijgen.
Onze lieve vader en broer, Pierre, een warme Nederlandse levenslustige ondernemer, werd op 16 april 2025 dood aangetroffen in Costa Rica met een schotwond in zijn hoofd! We zijn in shock! Geen afscheid. Geen uitleg. Geen antwoorden.
Hij woonde daar sinds 2019, runde een hotel en werkte vol trots aan de opening van zijn nieuwe restaurant. Die droom werd abrupt en tragisch afgebroken.
Geen overlijdensakte. Geen autopsierapport. Geen politiedossier. De autoriteiten blijven stil alsof er niets is gebeurd! Zelfs zijn persoonlijke spullen zijn door de politie op Costa Rica zonder toestemming aan derden overgedragen.
Wat deze situatie ondraaglijk en onmenselijk maakt is dat de lokale autoriteiten in Costa Rica volledig zwijgen en ons telkens doorverwijzen naar de Nederlandse Ambassade, terwijl de ambassade op haar beurt niets onderneemt, geen informatie geeft, geen vragen stelt, en de situatie volledig op zijn beloop laat.
In plaats van te mogen rouwen, moeten wij zelf optreden als onderzoekers, woordvoerders, rechercheurs, advocaten, journalisten, forensisch onderzoekers en nabestaanden. Wij worden van het kastje naar de muur gestuurd in onwetendheid. Er is geen actie, geen coördinatie, geen enkele vorm van hulp.
We voelen ons enorm machteloos en we gaan kapot van verdriet, we zijn radeloos en weten niet hoe we hier als familie zelf werk van kunnen maken.
Daarom willen we jullie hulp vragen om professionals in te kunnen schakelen om dit onderzoek te kunnen verrichten en te voorkomen dat er nog meer cruciaal bewijs verloren gaat en ook antwoord te kunnen krijgen op de doodsoorzaak van onze lieve vader en broer.
Met jullie donaties willen we:
- De crematie tegen te houden totdat de zaak goed is onderzocht
- Een misdaad advocaat in Costa Rica inschakelen voor juridisch onderzoek
- Een civiel advocaat in Costa Rica inschakelen die ons toegang kan geven tot officiële documenten
- Een advocaat in Nederland inschakelen om onze belangen hier juridisch te behartigen
- Een privédetective in huren voor onafhankelijk onderzoek en interviews ter plaatse
- Forensisch/medisch onderzoek laten uitvoeren (indien nodig in Nederland)
- De repatriëring van zijn lichaam realiseren voor onderzoek, als dat nodig blijkt
- Onze persoonlijke veiligheid tijdens een noodzakelijke reis te waarborgen
- Professionele vertalingen en juridische ondersteuning te betalen
- Publiciteit op te bouwen om druk te zetten en te voorkomen dat deze zaak in de doofpot verdwijnt
Elke ingezamelde euro wordt met zorg besteed. Mochten er na het juridische en forensische traject middelen overblijven, dan reserveren we die voor aanvullende kosten in de zaak. Eventueel resterend bedrag doneren we – in overleg – aan een goed doel dat strijdt voor waarheid en gerechtigheid. We communiceren hier altijd transparant over.

Our dear father and brother Pierre found dead in Costa Rica - help us uncover the truth.
Our dear father and brother, Pierre, a warm person a Dutch entrepreneur, was found dead in Costa Rica on April 16, 2025 with a gunshot wound in the head! We are in shock! No goodbyes. No explanations. No answers.
He had been living there since 2019, was running a hotel and proudly working to open his new restaurant. That dream abruptly and tragically stopped.
No death certificate. No autopsy report. No police files. The authorities remain silent as if nothing happened! Even his personal belongings were turned over to third parties by the police in Costa Rica without any permission of the family.
What makes this situation unbearable and inhumane is that the local authorities in Costa Rica remain completely silent and refer us to the Dutch Embassy each time, while the Embassy in turn does nothing, gives no information, asks no questions, and leaves the situation completely to its own.
Instead of being able to mourn, we have to act as investigators, spokespersons, lawyers, journalists, forensic investigators and relatives. We are being sent from pillar to post in ignorance. There is no action, no coordination, no help of any kind.
We feel tremendously powerless and we are breaking down with grief, we are distraught and do not know how we as a family can work through this ourselves.
Therefore, we would like to ask for your help to be able to bring in professionals to be able to conduct this investigation and prevent further crucial evidence from being lost and also be able to get answers to the cause of death of our dear father and brother.
With your donations, we want to:
- Stop the cremation until the case is properly investigated
- Engage a crime lawyer in Costa Rica for legal investigation
- Engage a civil lawyer in Costa Rica who can give us access to official documents
- Engage a lawyer in the Netherlands to legally represent our interests here
- Hire a private investigator for independent investigation and on-site interviews
- Have forensic/medical examinations conducted (if necessary in the Netherlands)
- Realize the repatriation of his body for examination, if necessary
- Ensure our personal safety during a necessary trip
- Pay for professional translations and legal support
- Build publicity to put pressure and prevent this case from being covered up
Every euro collected is spent with care. Should any funds remain after the legal and forensic process, we reserve them for additional costs in the case. Any remaining amount we donate - in consultation - to a charity that fights for truth and justice. We always communicate transparently about this.
