A loving husband and father, successful businessman, a good friend and a natural-born leader.

Herb Schoell Sr. is all of these things and much more. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, a volunteer firefighter since 1955 (67 years) and past Fire Chief in Bristol Township for over 20 years. This man has dedicated his life to serving his country and community.

However, in October of 2021, heart issues, followed by several complications and health setbacks, resulted in multiple hospital stays and stopped this man from doing the things he loves. Adding to this unfortunate and stressful situation, his wife fell and broke her hip, needing surgery and leaving her unable to care for him.

Herb’s accomplishments are many. In addition to being Fire Chief, he also served as the Bristol Township Fire Marshal for several years. He is a charter member of the Pa. State Arson Association and proudly helped raise funds for the Crozer-Chester and St. Agnes Burn Centers. He has received accommodations from the Bristol Township Police and started the Citizens Fire Academy in his local fire company. As a local businessman, he built his business through hard work and commitment and was always willing to help a customer in need. For several years, Herb sponsored a local Little League and men’s softball teams and could be seen in the crowd cheering them on.

These ongoing health issues for both Herb and his wife are putting a financial strain on their resources. We are asking for help to pay for medical bills and ongoing expenses. He has given so much of his life to helping his community; we now hope that the community will find it in their hearts to help him in return.
