As my marathon journey continues, I’ve decided to take a distant detour to Tokyo, Japan, to run my first international race. I’m very excited as this race looks a little different for me. Instead of running with a goal time in mind, I’ll be running for a charity.

 I’m raising money for the Japan Committee - Vaccines for the World’s Children, an organization dedicated to improving access to life-saving vaccines for children around the globe. Vaccines remain one of the most effective ways to protect children from preventable illness and death, and this organization works to ensure those protections reach communities that need them most.

As we know, DOGE cut funding to many of the US’s International vaccine programs and our administration continues to spread anti-vax rhetoric while rolling back vaccine mandates. In choosing this charity, we can fight back a little. 
 
I’ve unfortunately been slow to start this fundraising effort. With so much happening in the world and so many important causes deserving our attention, it felt difficult to ask for donations. But it’s not too late to make an impact. Any amount truly helps; $5 or simply sharing this page.
