We are raising funds for the strongest and most amazing person I know, my sister, Georgina!
Georgina was in an horrific car accident on the 8th of March in 2023, suffering a serious traumatic brain injury, completely losing vision in her left eye, and fracturing and crushing 13 of her vertebrae including her neck. She also now has permanent facial disfigurement, and varying states of cognitive and strength impairments as a result.
With every day bringing new challenges, Georgie’s tenacity and commitment to continue improving has never failed. She has been doing pretty damn well, considering the severity of her injuries, but as time goes on, we have found gaps (devastatingly) in what insurance will cover, and what she needs/what has been recommended by her team in order to continue smashing her treatment goals, and to get back to a healthy, fulfilling and purposeful life again!
At a point in her life that is so critical sustaining the progress she has made in her rehabilitation so far, we want to ensure she can have access to tools, physicians and programs that she will be needing for the months and years to come. Preventing the additional stress of sourcing the required funding where we can, and to ensure it’s not the barrier towards continuing progress as it currently is.
Despite almost 2 years passing since her accident, given how much the injuries have altered her way of life, she is very much still in the thick of it with a lifetime of recovery, adaption and re-learning ahead.
We have been so thankful for the support her treating teams have provided so far, with a typical week consisting of alternating appointments with spinal surgeons, a neurophysiotherapist, rehabilitation medicine physician, multiple physiotherapist’s, an orthopsit and a opthamoligst. A plastic surgeon, dietician, an exercise physiologist, an OT, a speech pathologist and a psychologist in the mix too. (Honestly I don’t know how she does it!!)
To help this cause, I (Rhys, Georgie’s Brother) have released the first part of a documentary mini-series which helps to bring awareness to Georgie’s story so far, and to provide a little more insight into why we are in need of your help. I’ll also releasing an original song, to help soundtrack the series; a song I wrote the day after the accident, about the experience.
The goal of the fundraiser is to raise $60,000 by the 15th of May, by which date I will be attempting an ultra marathon trail race in the Blue Mountains. With how much Georgie has shown is possible in the face of adversity, it will be my biggest motivator and anchor to help me make it across that line!
Georgina is the most generous, gorgeous, adventurous and fun loving person, who has always given it her all to support others no matter the circumstances, lighting up a room with her smile and her warm hearted nature.
We recognise the situation of many in our current social climate, so any contribution will be greatly appreciated and will make a difference, no matter how small.
If you’d also like to learn more about Georgie's story please check out and share the series that will be on Rhys’s Instagram, Facebook, Spotify and Youtube - @rhyscoventrymusic
We are all behind you Georgie ❤️
