Nico is critically ill and he needs your help to survive.
A few days ago, he was hours away from his euthanasia deadline at Devore. But like so many before him, his video touched my heart and I had to give him a chance.
He was confiscated from a neglectful owner, scared out of his mind, and labeled “unable to be handled”… not because he was dangerous, but because he was terrified.
I brought him into my home as a foster, determined to show him what love and safety felt like.
But we didn’t even get 48 hours.
He is now fighting for his life at the emergency vet.
Nico arrived at my home very sick. We spent the first two days at the vet running tests and getting fluids, and things seemed to be improving… until today. He was exhausted and lethargic, so we rushed back, where his temperature came back at 105.8°. It was deemed a critical emergency, so we rushed to the emergency vet where they decided he needs to be hospitalized.
What we thought was a bad URI turned out to be something far more serious… doctors believe he has either a severe systemic infection or even possibly distemper. For a dog who has already survived so much, this feels unbearably cruel.
He is exhausted. He is scared. But he is still here… and that tells me he’s fighting.
I am fighting with him.
I’ve already poured everything I have into getting him answers. Now I’m asking you to help give him the full, aggressive treatment he needs to pull through.
Nico has been abandoned, neglected, and failed by every person who was supposed to protect him. He has nothing… no owner, no history of love, no one in his corner.
Except us.
Every dollar you give tells this forgotten dog that he matters. That his life has value. That someone showed up for him when it counted most.
His name is now Paladin, because I want him to leave his old name and his old life behind.
Please help me save him. He deserves the same fighting chance we would give any dog we love.
