In a heroico act of humanitarian empathy, Pepe received a bullet in his chest the night of July 23 in Tepoztlán, Mexico.
Pepe and Mariana, arriving at their house were alerted to an act of domestic violence by their neighbor who was screaming for help because the aggressor had her 8 year old daughter trapped in the house and would not let the mother in. Mariana called the police while Pepe approached the house. The aggressor, father of the child, came to the window to argue with Pepe. He pulled out a gun and shot Pepe from the upstairs window. The bullet entered his chest and left him unconscious. Mariana rushed Pepe to the hospital and miraculously he has survived the injury after surgery to repair the damage to his pericardium and lung and with the bullet remaining inside. All of this has resulted in hospital bills, doctor’s fees, pharmaceutical expenses and other care needs that Pepe and his family are unable to cover.
Now it’s our turn to help him and continue with the chain of kindness that sustains the world.
