Hello Dearest Friends and Family!
My wife Lily, and I have just returned home to Michigan after several interesting months in Oregon.
We moved there for a promised opportunity that did not pan out. Our time in Oregon was riddled with bad luck here and there (like unfortunately getting robbed) despite our best efforts and exhausting every attempt at improving our situation.
Luckily we were blessed with knowing great people and meeting others who helped us along the way. Still at the beginning and end of our stay, we had to sell nearly everything we had in order to afford food, medications and gas to get home.
We made it back to Michigan in one piece. We are happy to be back and have received kindness and generosity in the form of a modest place to live.
We have job prospects on the near horizon but haven’t been able to afford the bare necessities to get ourselves propped up in this new location just yet and the clock is ticking. We want to make sure our animals and ourselves can stay warm and are able to live in a healthy environment.
At this moment our biggest issue is the need for getting utilities set up so that we can have heat and running water. Many of you know we downsized big time over the past year to live in an RV so we are without a few basic necessities that will be needed again to live in a house.
The cost to get utilities hooked up initially is $350 (former bill that needs to be attended to). Our little place has no fridge (has been donated!-thank you), microwave, bed, has moldy carpet, sealing the windows is needed and replacing locks and installing deadbolts and there are also signs of some water damage under carpet that will need to be replaced. These would be the bare minimum needed to make the place habitable for ourselves and our animals. We are hard-working and extremely appreciative of any and all help - no matter the amount so we want to be able to give back.
We are offering all we can to show our appreciation for any help we receive. Lily has offered to give free 1-hour full body massages or Reiki sessions for every $50 spent. I am offering painting services, graphic design, carpentry, landscaping, and snowboard lessons for ANY donations received. We are not accustomed to so publicly asking for help of this kind and we feel awful to be in a position to need to ask for help so we want to do all we can to reciprocate for anyone and everyone who is able to help us in any capacity.
We are hoping to get into the house as soon as utilities can be hooked up and we can stay there at first without appliances, bed and carpet right off the bat. Outside of monetary donations to establish heat and running water utilities, any furniture/appliance donations would also be greatly appreciated. The rest of the money will be going to upkeep and maintenance like plumbing repairs and water leaks that needs to be tended to ASAP. We would be ecstatic with even the smallest of donations in any form. Please feel free with any questions and let us know if there is anything else we can help you with outside of the tasks/offers we’ve listed above. Thank you for taking the time to read this. We love you all!
Happy holidays!
