Help Michael J. Krym Recover from House Fire

My name is Jessica, and my partner Michael’s house just burned down on the evening of Wednesday, January. 29th. He lost everything in the fire, including important documents, memories, and everything he owned.

Some of you may know him as a filmmaker, and also as a barista at Starbucks.

The house next to his already burned down in September, and his almost got caught back then. That same house is vacant and still hasn’t been knocked down, which attracts homeless people and drug addicts.

Some of those people got into that house yesterday and started a fire which then caught Michael’s house on fire. Firefighters were called around 7:30pm to his house at 147 Cameron Ave.

It was engulfed in flames and took hours to put out. The house is burnt and was completely flooded.

The owner of the house next door that started the fire both times was completely negligent leaving that house unattended and not properly boarded up. There were footprints found and signs of attempted entry every day. But no one did anything even when the city was contacted multiple times about it. Now, people’s lives have been completely changed.

In my opinion, this is a crime of negligence. It was absolutely preventable. The city and owner of the house that started the fire are responsible.

This has caused a lot of pain and it will cost a lot to start over. All he had was the clothes on his back as he came home from work to discover all of his belongings had been destroyed.

His insurance is not cooperating at the moment, so he hasn’t received any compensation yet. He needs to replace important documents overnight because he needs them as soon as possible, which is very costly. He only had the clothes he was wearing to work so funds will also go to getting those essentials.

I know he would never ask for support himself, so I decided to start this gofundme.
