I am a Canadian Peace Keeping Police Officer, Currently deployed in Haiti for one year. In addition to my daily work as a police officer, I also have the honor of working with the amazing people of Haiti. Specifically, Sister Gloria Ines Gonzales. Sister Gloria has dedicated her life to helping the children of Haiti who are in great need for education, love, food, and shelter. Sister Gloria is the director of a very special school in Croix des Bouquest, Haiti called "Ecole Mixte Saint Charles Borromee". This school is dedicated to help children with very special needs and handicaps. Children with disabilities are usually rejected by the public here as they believe these children are not sent by god. Sister Gloria believes in these children as do I. About 4 months ago, this school was broken into during the night and thiefs stole their electricity, generators, batteries, inverters and laptops. These laptops were used to help educate the children as to help them in their futures. My goal is to help replace these missing laptop computers so these children can continue learning and growing as self reliant individuals.
I believe that with at least $2000 I will be able to purchase 4 laptop computers to replace the ones that were stolen. All additional funds raised will be used to purchase more computers and a safe so they can store their new laptops in at night. I have approached many organizations but I am usually turned away as the amount I am asking for is not large enough. This amount is not that large but to these kids, it will have a huge impact. To me, that is what is important here, not the publicity an organization would get. If I could afford to purchase and replace these laptops myself I would. I currently use my own money to purchase treats, coloring books, toys etc. for the kids when I visit. I can use any help I can get and anything is greatly appreciated.
