In Loving Memory of Kathy Straus

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page for Kathy McGovern Straus.  As many of you know, on Wednesday evening Kathy passed away peacefully after fearlessly fighting COPD for more than 10 years and recently being diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer.  Before she was called home, Kathy was surrounded by loved ones and comforted by some of her favorite things in the world.  (Yes, we had Beatles tunes playing non-stop.)

Details of Kathy’s visitation and Funeral Mass can be found below.  Because of her long-term health condition, I am unfortunately faced with covering the expense of these services, as well as the burial of her ashes near her sweet sister Maureen, without the aid of insurance or other financial assistance.  For this reason, I have set up this memorial fund in hopes that friends and family may be able to give a small financial gift in memory of Kathy to help with those costs. 

If you had the pleasure of knowing Kathy very well, then you certainly know what a strong, loyal, and passionate woman she was.  She saw the good in everyone and was always the first to take care of anyone in need.  Asking others for help… well, that wasn’t exactly something Kathy liked to do!  So please accept this as a humble request from her family on Kathy’s behalf.

We understand that travel can be difficult, and many of you will only be able to attend Tuesday’s services “in spirit.”  For those who are able to make it, there will also be donation envelopes available at the church.
