Hello, my name is Carla. I’m writing this with hope and compassion in my heart, in support of my dear friend, Kerry-Ann and her family as they work to rebuild their home. Please see below the message from Kerry-Ann and her family.

My name is Kerry-Ann. I live in Canada and I’m unable to be with my family during these devastating times. My heart and mind are with them in Jamaica.

Wilton House, located in the community of Bluefields, Westmoreland, Jamaica has been our home for 30 years. Over the years, we warmly welcomed friends and guests with whom we shared fond memories, and we faithfully served our neighbors, our church and our community from this home. If someone needed a place to lay their head, they found it here. If they needed a meal to eat, they found it here.

Hurricane Melissa wreaked havoc on our lives: in a few agonizing hours it took our livelihood, it stripped our home of its roofing and infrastructure, it destroyed our vehicle, the land that was overflowing with fruit trees that fed us is now bare and littered with fallen trees, shattered glass and other debris, and our once picturesque and peaceful retreat that received visitors from around the world is now a catastrophic site. Resources are limited, there is no clean drinking water, the power is out, there is limited communications and our hearts are broken. It took almost everything, but we are grateful it did not take our lives.

I appeal to you for your support. Help us pick up the broken pieces and begin the process of restoration. No contribution is too small and if you are able to make a donation, please know that your kindness will go a long way in not only rebuilding our home, but in allowing us to continue our commitment to serving our Bluefields community, where all lives have been drastically changed.
