Lou Grasso needs your help

My name is Michael Keaton…one of an extensive group of friends who just happened to draw the short straw when it came to writing about our dear friend of nearly 40 years, Lou Grasso. Lou was diagnosed with invasive and extensive brain cancer several months ago. Despite having medical insurance, Lou was discharged from his rehabilitation facility this week as the coverage has restrictive limitations.
As a result, Lou is coming home, where his wife Sue will take leave from her job to orchestrate and deliver his care at home. We are hoping to raise funds to cover the costs of home and additional nursing care, an appropriate bed, and medical supplies, as well as the cost of transportation to and from his chemotherapy treatments to fight this battle to extend Lou’s life, as is his wish.
Insurance will not cover much, if any of his care, despite the fact that it will be managed by Sue, family, and friends, who remain committed to supporting Lou’s choices. None to little will be covered by their insurance.
We all know this story will not have a happy ending; yet prolonging his quality of life by a few extra months gives Lou the chance to attain a goal he set months ago. Upon learning of his grim diagnosis Lou committed to attending a college reunion this spring where he’ll be able to cherish a couple of days where he spent some of his life’s most joyous days, surrounded by people who love him and who will celebrate his courage.
A few months may not mean that much to many of us, but to Lou and his family, it would mean the world. Won’t you please help us help Lou?
