Tim's cancer treatment fund
My name is Tim Little. I am 40 years old, married with two children, and I am in the process of treating my third cancer in eight years. I was recently diagnosed with bone cancer that is a sarcoma in multiple places in my body. The tumors have been found in my vertebrae, hips and lung.
Since the diagnosis, my wife Rachel and I have been to see sarcoma specialists at Dana Farber in Boston, Memorial Sloane Kettering in NYC and UPMC in Pittsburgh. All of them have given similar advice, to start chemotherapy and hope and pray that it slows down the growth.
Just before my chemo was due to start, I fractured my hip when I missed a step on the staircase at home. I was given a full hip replacement, and I am working with a physical therapist to rehab my hip and prevent future fracture.
After chemotherapy, we are hoping that I will qualify to begin a clinical trial for a new type of treatment called immunotherapy. This is very exciting and hopeful, but requires travelling to either NYC or Pittsburgh for treatment and therapies.
The reason that we began this journey with GoFundMe, is to defray the costs of travel and care, and to help our family meet basic financial responsibilities, as my wife and I have both needed to take leave from our respective jobs.
Thank you for reading my story. We are so grateful for any help that you can give.
