Hi everyone, and thank you for taking a moment to read Max’s story.
Max is a sweet, loving dog who was recently selected to receive a sponsored neuter through a local rescue. The procedure seemed routine at first—but just a few days later, everything changed.
Shortly after the surgery, Max began experiencing severe swelling and bruising. His condition worsened rapidly, and we rushed him back to the animal hospital. Blood work showed signs of a potential infection, and he was sent home with antibiotics and medication.
We followed every instruction closely, but despite our best efforts, Max managed to remove his protective cone while unsupervised for just a short time. In that moment, he accidentally reopened his incision. The wound quickly became an open, exposed site that’s now at high risk of serious infection.
The veterinarian informed us that Max now needs an emergency surgery to properly close the wound and ensure safe healing. Without it, the injury could lead to long-term damage or worse.
The rescue that helped with his initial care has generously supported us as much as they can, but their funds have been exhausted. That’s why I'm turning to the community for help.
We never expected a standard procedure to turn into a medical emergency. Max is strong, but he needs your help to pull through. If you can donate—whether it’s $5, $10, or simply by sharing this post—it would mean the world to us and to Max.
Thank you for reading.
