Hey Guys,
I hope that you and your family are doing great. My back held up and I was able to finish my college football career. Thank you for your support and prayers over the years. I am currently working as a graduate assistant coach for the football team at Wayland Baptist University and I am about halfway through my Master's degree.
As many of you know (because you chose to help out) I was given a great opportunity to go to Alaska for a mission trip last summer. I went with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Wayland Baptist University. We went to show the kids of Alaska the love of Jesus Christ through sports camps. It was amazing. We formed relationships with the kids and showed them love that I am not sure they have ever seen before. The first few days of camp they were timid, but by the time we left they were hanging all over us and crying because it was time for us to go. We planted seeds in those kids and their parents last summer and I am really looking foward to seeing how much God has helped them grow. The main thing I learned from my trip was to love. Just love. We were prepared to preach the Gospel and to use different evangelical techniques, but found out when we got there that the best way to teach the kids about Jesus was to be Christ-like. To love them, not because they could catch a football or make a great play, but because they are a child of the Almighty God.
I am really excited to say that I am getting to go back to Alaska this summer. God is so good! We will be going back to Soldotna. Last year we ran football and volleyball camps for the kids. This year we will be doing those same camps but also be teaching the kids basketball and soccer. We will be there for two weeks instead of just one so we are going to be able to do so much more for this community. I can't express how excited I am and now I get to share this experience with my brother! Again, God is so so good!
I am writing this asking for prayers and any financial support that you can provide. I was a little nervous to write this letter because we are asking for so much more than last year, but we are staying twice as long and Caden gets to go with me. Even if you can not help financially, we would really appreciate your prayers as we pursue this mission.
Thank you again,
Joshua Bailey
Hey Everyone,
My name is Caden Bailey. I am currently wrapping up the last semester of my senior year. I am still undecided about what school I will be attending and also what major I will be obtaining. I am considering both Wayland Baptist University and Texas Tech University to continue my education. If I attend Wayland in the fall I am going to get the opportunity to continue to play football.
This past fall my brother asked me if I would like to go to Alaska with him on the same mission trip he went on last year and I jumped on the opportunity. I am excited for this chance and the benefits that will accompany this trip. This summer I will get to experience something very few people get to and I am extremely blessed to get to do this. I get to combine both my love for football with a love for establishing lasting relationships. The trip to Alaska will be my first time going there and also my first time on a plane! Thank you everyone for your prayer and support as we try and prepare for this journey.
With Love,
Caden Bailey
The discovery channel has done a great job of showing the true beauty of Alaska, but many do not know the spiritual condition of this place. Less than 9% of the state population is associated with the Christian Church. The state’s suicide rate is 9 times that of the national average, with some areas being 200 times that mark. The state says 1/3 of all children deal with sexual abuse, but the elders say that number is closer to 100%. These are the reasons we are going. We want to thank you all for your love and support whether financially or through prayer!
