Hello, My name is Yvonne Jones. On November 29, 2021, our lives were turned upside down. It was Monday morning around 10:45 am my eldest daughter heard the fire alarm going off. She got up and realized there was a fire in the upstairs attic, which was right next to her son's room. She immediately started banging on walls and waking everyone up in the house, yelling and screaming for everyone to get out of the house. Everyone immediately jumped up and got out of the house with what we had on our backs. We had no idea how bad the fire was until we got outside and saw the whole back of the house on fire. We were all hysterical, afraid and just all over the place. We had never experienced a house fire before, but we are beyond thankful my daughter acted fast and got everyone to safety. In this house fire, we lost EVERYTHING, but most of all, the memories. My ex-husband and I raised our children in that home and many others. This home was the only home we knew and loved so very much. We are not upset about material things because we still have life, and life is far more important than what we lost. Since that terrible day, we have been trying our best to get back on our feet and back in our house. We have been displaced for two years, we have been praying and holding on to God's word. However, we have exhausted all of our options, and now we are asking for your help. Any dollar amount will be appreciated and if you do not have it to give, please share our story and keep us in your prayers. I am the mother of two daughters and a grandmother of one. We have lived in Hopkins for over 27 years. I have always been a very hard worker, holding down two jobs at one time and taking care of my household. I have never asked for any handouts or help, I have always worked hard to make things happen for me and my family. Due to our house not being grandfathered in we were told we would have to bring the house up to current codes by the county. Also, due to COVID, the materials and everything was more expensive. We have fallen upon hard times before and God has always made a way. However, at this point, we need assistance from whoever has it in their heart to help. It is very hard for me to ask for help but this is not just about me, it's about my family.
