After much time in prayer and months of the Lord tugging at my heart, I am finally taking a leap of faith and spending my next semester at Youth With A Mission (YWAM). Though I will miss my friends, my family, and my best friend/boyfriend (John) so much, I feel God calling me 'back home' to pursue this adventure with Him.
YWAM is a 6-month mission program during which I will spend 3 months at a Discipleship Training School in Kona, Hawaii (my birthplace), and 3 months on global outreach. During the first 3 months, I will be studying the Bible and focusing on media, photography, and communication skills. Then, during the last 3 months, I will be applying my training in an overseas mission.
My 'ROOTS' were planted on December 3, 1991, in Honolulu Hawaii. After 2 short years, the Marine Corps moved our family to our next duty station. I've never been back but I've carried a deep longing, and desire in my heart to return to my 'homeland' for as long as I can remember.
Being a daughter of a U.S. Marine resulted in endless moves all over the country and COUNTLESS blessings. Through all the moving the Lord brought friends into our lives that we are grateful to now call FAMILY. People I know we would have never met without the constant uprooting of our own family system. People I call "Tio, Tia, Aunt, Uncle, sister, brother, cousin." These people became our forever family!
It's so fitting that OHANA, the Hawaiian term meaning "family" encapsulates the very definition of the family I described above. In the Hawaiian culture family is not simply blood-relatives, it reaches beyond that and extends the word family from blood-related to adoptive or international. It eliminates the division we create with our neighbors and open arms to everyone and says "all belong, all are welcome, all are family" HOW BEAUTIFUL IS THAT???
Jerimiah 29:14 "Yes, says the Lord, I will be found by you, and I will end your slavery and restore your fortunes; I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and bring you back home again to your own land."
God's calling me back HOME! I leave this upcoming January and I am asking you to join me as a prayer warrior and if you are able to a financial supporter. I can not do this alone, which is humbling and beautiful all at the same time. I am grateful I don't have to do this alone & so appreciative of all those who have prayed and continued to pray over my life and my future. I am TRUSTING him as I share my story and ask for support.
Prayerfully consider joining me in this next adventure. First off I need a prayer support team of people who will commit to pray for me during this time. I also need to raise $3,995 for the 3-month training portion and another $4,000 or more (depending on the location of the trip). Thank you in advance for following the Lord's leading and potentially joining me on this mission.
Please be praying for guidance, peace, and safety while I step out in faith and share the fire (love) in my heart that burns for the Lord. I look forward to providing you with updates on how God is working through this experience.
All my Love,
Aisle :)
