Support Heather's Battle Against Cancer
Donation protected
Dear Family and Friends,
I hope this message finds you well. I have some important news to share regarding Heather’s health. As many of you know, she has been bravely battling cancer over the past three years. Despite her incredible strength and resilience, the journey has been far from easy.
Unfortunately, Heather has been diagnosed with cancer for the third time. This time, it’s a recurrence of spindle cell sarcoma, the same aggressive form that she fought off once before. The tumor is located in a precarious spot in her back, nestled between her ribs and next to her spine. The situation is serious and requires a two day surgery in July.
The good news is that a renowned doctor at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota has agreed to perform this complex procedure. This specialist is known for handling the most challenging cases, and we are optimistic about the expertise and care Heather will receive. Heather, who lives in Topeka, Kansas, will be traveling and staying in Minnesota for almost a month for the surgery and initial recovery.
As her sister, I have witnessed firsthand the immense challenges Heather has faced, not just with her health but also in managing her household and caring for her two wonderful sons, Jayden and Brayden. Over the last three years, she has used most of her sick leave, and now she will be out of work for a substantial amount of time while going through surgery, recovery, and rehabilitation, all with limited income.
Given these circumstances, Heather will need all the support we can offer. Whether it’s helping with meals, providing transportation, or simply being there to offer emotional support, every bit of assistance will make a significant difference during her recovery.
In addition to our personal support, I would like to create a GoFundMe account for Heather. This fund will help cover her medical expenses, travel costs, and daily needs while she is out of work. Your contributions, no matter the size, would be greatly appreciated and will go a long way in easing the financial burden on Heather and her family.
We are incredibly proud of Heather’s strength and perseverance. Her spirit and determination have been a source of inspiration for all of us. As she prepares for this next step in her journey, let’s come together to support her and her children through this challenging time.
Thank you all for your love and support. It means the world to Heather, Jayden, Brayden, and me.
With love and gratitude,
Gwen
