Support Needed After Unexpected Job Loss

Here’s what’s been going down. It’s no real secret I’ve been falling behind on finances lately. A combination of rent going up, my insurance through work being too expensive, and not getting paid enough at my job. I was planning on having a roommate by now, but that has apparently fallen through. But the huge kicker today came at a store meeting this morning when I, with everyone else I work with, was told that, thanks to failed rent negotiations with the property owner, our last day in the building our business operates out of will be this Sunday; and they anticipate at least a month from then before we’ll be able to open up the new location they’re planning for us to operate out of. This puts us all out of work right in the middle of the worst season to lose your job. There is the slightest silver lining, I’ve already been applying for a new job, so hopefully the problem won’t be lasting long.

I’ve been trying to catch up with a lot of things, one being my electric bill, which now is a couple of months behind, and I’m going to have to start a payment plan to keep the lights on, and another is my rent. I’m about $40 away from being able to pay this month’s late rent. What happened here is also quite annoying.

I have an ESA, and I thought the front office of my apartment knew I had her. But apparently not, that part is on me. They sent me a notification telling me they didn’t know and now they want me to pay $300 in a pet fee and $40 a month in pet rent. I, obviously, can’t afford this. So I got a new note from my therapist to confirm her status as my ESA and submitted that for approval to avoid paying the fines. The corporate office took the notice but requires more information, some from my therapist (which she is getting to me now) and some that will require a vet visit before the end of this month, including updated shot records and micro-chipping my dog. All to avoid paying extra money to my apartment, but I still can’t afford that on its own.

I have one friend who is taking me grocery shopping this weekend, and another who is trying very hard to help me get a new job, something that actually pays well enough I can survive off of it. But I am left in the red right now with no expectation to be able to make money for at least a month.

I have already received some help from family, and now I’m forced to come here, again, to try and find enough from my community and friends to help get me through. Like I said, it’s the worst time of year for this, particularly because no one has extra money right now, and I completely understand that. If you can donate, it will be greatly appreciated; if you can’t, just passing this along would be amazing help in its own right. Thank you for listening and for any help whatsoever you may be able to provide. Thank you, and good night
