- I
On behalf of Rose and Val DeLeon we would very much appreciate any assistance that you can offer to our family.
On January 21, 2016 Lori DeLeon went in for a routine surgery to fuse injured discs in her cervical spine. It was during this procedure that an unexpected tragedy occurred. At some point during the surgery an air embolism developed in her blood stream and eventually caused a massive stroke. After a CT scan identified the cause and location of the stroke an emergency surgery was performed to resolve the embolism and remove any further air in her blood stream. Lori then was transferred into the hyperbaric chamber in an attempt to continue forcing any air out of her blood stream. Unfortunately, these efforts were all in vain.
As a result of the massive stroke, Lori was declared brain dead and remained on life support to keep her body functioning. On the morning of January 22, 2016, Rose and Val received the phone call from the hospital informing them of terminal prognosis. Immediately after receiving that phone call Rose and Val contacted family and friends to come and say their goodbyes to Lori.
At 4 pm on January 22, Rose and Val made the difficult decision to remove life support from their mother. This was Lori’s wish in the event something like this ever happened to her. At 4:27 Lori found peace with her Lord and peacefully passed with family and friends present.
Lori had not worked in years due to a successful fight against cancer and a focus on being the best homemaker possible. As a result, Lori had no life insurance or savings put aside to fulfill her end of life requests.
Any donations received will be utilized toward the cremation and memorial that Lori had desired in the event of her death. Any additional funds received will be used to help settle any costs of her estate.
Lori taught her children to be kind and generous and they have lived that lesson well. In this time of dire need, we are requesting others to follow Lori’s lesson and be kind and generous to the DeLeon family in this time of need.
Rose and Val have been working with Tom Morris, a Funeral Director at Max A. Sass & Sons funeral home. If you have any questions, please contact Tom directly at [phone redacted].
Thank you in advance for any assistance you can offer us.
