Hi, my name is Luis and I'm fundraising for my friend Adrian. He was hospitalized in Sept. 1, 2023 for a ear infection but at the same time lost his vision on both eyes. Doctors were able to treat his ear infection,but not his vision due to the retinal detachment in the emergency. He was referred to a eye doctor. He called his employer and found out he didn't make the deadline for open enrollment. So he has no medical insurance, no short or long term disability. I took Adrian to the food stamp office,social security office and to the unemployment office. He did receive $56.00 in January, 2024 from the food stamps office. He got denied from SSI and a week later, he received a letter from the unemployment office stating that he got denied for not doing 3 job searches in a week. We are going to appeal this. How can he search for a job if he can't see!

We are currently seeking help with a hospital called UMC to see if he qualifies for any discounts or grants that can help him out. The doctors told him the longer he waits,the possibilities will be less promising getting his eye sight back on both eyes. We called the retina specialist and asked how much it would be without insurance and they said 400.00 which he doesn't have at the moment. I'm asking for everyone's help and support in this matter.
