My name is Cheryl, I’m Brooke’s mom. My daughter Brooke is a 26 year old beautiful young lady. Brooke’s medical issues started 8 months ago when she started having seizures, at this time she was told she needed an urgent MRI. Unfortunately, the urgent MRI didn’t happen until last Thursday. She had the scan at 2:30 AM and at 8:30 they were calling here to say you need emergency brain surgery. Brooke had no time to put anything together other than get over to the hospital. While getting bumped 5 times from having emergency surgery she finally had her surgery on Sunday afternoon. Brooke underwent an intensive 5 hour surgery on her brain to remove a tubular herniation and a part of a vertebra to get the herniation out. Surgeon explained it to me as her brain was trying to escape out the spinal column. Brooke had a major reaction to a pain med which made her stay in the hospital even longer. Brooke has a three year old son who she shares custody with but she still needs to fund him. Brooke has a boyfriend that was with her day and night and now since has lost his job because he stayed to help her. Brooke is a very hard worker and worked two jobs to keep paying the bills but unfortunately she now is off work for 3 plus months. Her Boyfriend is looking for work but at this time he needs to be with Brooke as she can’t be left alone. Brooke’s medicine for her seizures are 750.00 a week and yes that’s a week not a month, sadly isn’t covered by MSP. Brooke has benefits through her work but that is only 10,000 per year and she is almost at that and it’s only end of April. We’re trying to help her and Brennan out as much as possible but these bills are starting to pile up.
