For A Childhood Cancer Survivor to Save His Home

Donation protected
If you live in or around San Antonio, you might recognize this picture from Walmart or Valero...Sam's Club.... It's a photo of Jagger that was used in his Children's Miracle Network Campaign that raised money for the Children's Hospital of San Antonio. Raising money and creating awareness for childhood cancer has been a huge part of our lives for the last three years.  I am always happy to volunteer but not at all happy to ask for help....and we did ask for help when Jagger was in treatment and we received so much love from our friends and family.  I cannot wait for the day that I can give back to all of the people that helped us get through the most terrible years of our lives.  I do not want to ask for help again. It really pains me to even try.  We are extremely blessed that Jagger has recovered from a Stage IV diagnosis and almost two years of treatment.  There is so much to be thankful for...however, as most parents of survivors know...the pain doesn't stop when the child recovers.  The consequences of treating a child with cancer for years doesn't go away quickly.  I made a choice that, I really believed helped Jagger recover, but it was a choice that has followed us for years. I quit my job and became self-employed so that I could help others and continue treating my son at home.  I was very very lucky or blessed or put in just enough work to keep him with me....hopefully permanently but, it did cost me. It cost me a great job, a good credit score, my sanity....lol.  But...and sorry to get to the point so much later....we have been renting a home in San Antonio, TX for more than 4 and a half years....and now, the owner of our home is selling.  We wanted more than anything to go back home to New England to be back with our family but because of everything I sacrificed, that has proved to be impossible. We haven't been able to secure a home or rental without jobs in the area.  Over the last two months, we have been declined for housing up there several times.   As a second resort, we have applied for a loan to buy the home we have been living in  for the last four and a half years and stay a little while longer with our amazing, awesome family in San Antonio.  After hours with mortgage lenders, we are only $9,000 away in closing costs (taxes and loan fees) from sealing the deal and feeling safe again.  We just need a roof over our heads and if we can't be with our family back home, we would love to stay in our house next door to our friends.  I know so many people donated to Jagger's cancer treatment fund and that was so amazing.  It makes me so happy to know that you are out there looking after us.  So, please do not feel like you need to help again.  Maybe you can just share our post to push us through to the finish line of this battle.  I did not want to ask for help but, Jagger and I always say....Never Ever Give Up! (which we adopted from the Jesse Reese Foundation).  And so... I am posting this big ask.....   Thank You!
