Kora Kayyy’s Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, I’m the skinniest drag queen of Kansas City, Kora Kayyy, and a couple of weeks ago, my life took a very unexpected turn — straight into a tree.
I was in a serious car accident that left my car completely totaled and me in critical condition. I was rushed to the ER, where doctors discovered I had a lacerated liver, six broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and a concussion. I spent 42 hours in the ICU, the first 12 completely flat in a neck brace while doctors ruled out spinal injuries. Thankfully, my spine and neck were okay — which honestly feels like a miracle.
After that, I was transferred to the trauma floor, where I spent the next 8 days unable to leave the room. A chest tube was inserted to help heal my lung, but it kept collapsing, which made recovery slower and more frustrating — physically and emotionally. After 11 long days in the hospital, I was finally cleared to continue recovering at home.
I’m now facing at least 4 to 6 more weeks of healing. I’m out of work, my car is completely gone, and the medical bills, legal fees, and insurance stress are all piling up. I’m doing everything I can to stay positive, but I could really use a little help right now.
If you're able to support me — whether it’s through donations, sharing this page, or just sending good vibes — I’d be incredibly grateful. I know it could’ve been much worse, and I’m thankful every day that I’m still here and on the mend.
Thank you for reading, supporting, and helping me get back on my feet.
