Hi, my name is Robert Cameron,
On June 15, 2025, three days after my 45th birthday, my life changed irrevocably. I suffered a stroke, which left me without the use of the left side of my body, impaired vision, and being fed through a tube. Over the course of the past eight months, I have been working persistently and with resolution through a variety of rehabilitation programs.
I learned how to swallow again, which means being able to eat and drink again. I learned how to talk again, which means being able to communicate with my friends and family. I learned how to walk, albeit with the assistance of therapists and walking aids, which means having the opportunity not to be in bed or a wheelchair all day. Although I have made a lot of progress, there is still a long road ahead to regain as much function as possible so that I can live an independent life.
After extensive research and consultation, I am now considering stem cell therapy at TruStem Cell Therapy in Chicago. Traditional therapy invariable reaches a plateau, beyond which additional progress takes years, rather than months. Stem cell therapy offers proven, albeit varied, success in neurological recovery up and above that offered by traditional therapy. It is important to note that the best results seem to occur when stem cell therapy is combined with physical, speech and occupational rehabilitation.
Going to Chicago to undergo stem cell therapy when I am released from my current clinic in May of 2026 offers a life changing chance to continue my journey back to the normal and independent life I had before my stroke. The chance to speak as clearly as I did before. The chance to return to my old job, so that I can be financially independent. The chance to play golf, or hockey, or video games with my friends and spend quality time with my girlfriend . All things we take for granted, until we no longer have them.
Unfortunately, this treatment is not covered by insurance. The costs are significant. The funds raised by this fundraiser will help cover:
- The stem cell program at TrueStem Cell Therapy.
- Travel costs from Calgary to Chicago.
- Follow-up care and rehabilitation.
The stroke has been a life-changing experience, for the worse. Stem cell therapy offers another life-changing experience, to help return my life back to normal. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help me move toward improved independence and quality of life. For those that are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser with your friends and family can still make a great difference.
Thank you for reading, for your support, and for joining me on my journey to recovery.
With gratitude,
Robert Cameron
