Hello. I am 49 years old and I have MS. Recently, the disease has become more than I can handle, and I need to go on Social Security Disability. Unfortunately, the process takes quite a while, frequently a year or more. I am certainly hoping for it to take less time than that since I do have an obvious, clearly defined need for it now. But government things don't generally move quickly, and I am unemployed. I can't get unemployment because I am so limited in what job I can take, and I do not have a vehicle at this time. I am unable to walk more than a block without difficulty, making the bus a problem for me.
BUT, I have spent the past few years working very hard to reduce all of my expenses, and I know that I'll be able to survive on SSDI. I just need help until it comes through. Your money will go to helping me pay my tiny little mortgage payment each month ($450, which is still due for May), plus all the utility bills like water, gas, and electricity (which are all currently past due and showing high balances), my phone ($50 per month), my internet ($30), and then toiletries and food that I can't get from a food bank, and the food for my little band of pets. Very simple needs, and with any luck for only a very short period of time.
I picked the goal up there to cover at least 6 months worth of this, but the instant I get an SSDI award I will end the campaign.
