I am reaching out on behalf of my dear friend Michael Munno, who is facing a serious health crisis while unemployed and uninsured. He urgently needs support to make it through the next few months as he recovers and works toward stable employment.

Michael’s Story

Michael is a 56-year-old IT professional with a strong work ethic and a generous spirit. Like many in today’s economy, he has struggled to find stable, full-time work with benefits. Over the past couple of years, he’s taken on short-term contract jobs and, more recently, began driving for Uber to cover essential expenses.

On October 4th, Michael was rushed to the emergency room with severe fatigue and internal pressure and was diagnosed with a dangerous staph infection. He’s now been in the hospital for 10 days receiving intensive treatment, including:

He appears to be healing well and is in good spirits but remains hospitalized as doctors monitor his progress and prepare him for outpatient care.

The Urgent Need

Michael has applied for emergency Medicaid and hospital compassionate care programs that will hopefully help with medical bills, his most urgent challenge is covering basic living expenses during his hospitalization and recovery period.

Before falling ill, Michael was working hard—driving for Uber and taking freelance IT jobs—to make ends meet. Though he hopes to resume some work soon, his current health limits the hours and physical demands he can manage. With lost income, depleted savings, and maxed-out credit, he’s now at immediate risk of falling behind on rent, utilities, and other essentials—just when he needs stability and rest to heal.
