Thank your the incredible donations given the first time we announced Alanya's brain mass last November. The donations were all used to pay bills and make Christmas possible for Alayna.
Sadly, our daughter, 11-year-old Alayna who suffered from a mass last November and had emergency brain surgery is now in danger of another brain surgery. Her mass has grown back. It is now 80% the size then it was in November. What took 10 years for her previous mass in her brain to grow, this mass grew within six months.
She started having symptoms again about three weeks ago, waking up in the middle the night. She has increased headaches which causes her to not want to play; being able to be a normal kid playing is not an option for her now. They are certain that she will need brain surgery and they will be scheduling it by her next appointment.
Now we are faced with trying to get a second opinion in Rochester New York and Boston Massachusetts, both appointments are in August.
Unfortunately the cost is $600 for each (the co-pay due; they will not see her without it). In addition, the travel expenses for the Boston's trip. Boston is the number one pediatric neurosurgery in the country.
We feel that Alayna needs to get a second opinion because we don't want our daughter to go through this every six months.
Please help us with any donation you can give so that we can take our Alayna to the best medical advice out there.

Alayna is our princess, my first born, ten years old, full of life, with faith and courage. She started getting painful headaches that would wake her up in the middle of the night. We also started noticing changes in her personality. The doctors had difficulties finding what the issue was. Her first day of school, our Alayna passed out.
Our nightmare began when they found that she had a mass in the center of her brain 17 days ago after a prolonged wait for an MRI. She immediately was admitted into Childrens Hospital in the ICU and we haven't left since.
She first had a Craniotomy in order to remove the mass which was successful. Unfortunately , after a horrible 24 hours, she was back in surgery for CSF (CerebroSpinal Fluid) in the brain. A drain was placed into the ventricle to drain the fluid. She was still suffering with headaches, vomiting, and was unreponsive. 12 hours later, we found out the drain that they just placed malfunctioned and Alayna was back into a 3rd brain surgery.
On November 29, 2015, we received the difficult news that a 4th brain surgery was needed the next day to try to make her body drain the CSF by itself and reasorb. They had to shave off all of her hair. She was couragious and told me, "Don't cry, my Angel is with me." The surgery has a 50% chance that it will work and our last resort until the need for a permanent drain is needed.

Please, let's come together to help support Kristy and Franky during this time. They are dedicated parents to their four children. Kristy had to take a leave of absence from work without pay and has been in the hospital everyday and by Alayna's bedside 24/7. Franky is taking care of their other 3 children and now with the help of family, he is able to be with Alayna. They never planned to be a family that had to worry for their daughter to go through this.
The expenses are piling up and they are already getting bills from the hospital. This is a truly stressful, and an anxious time for the family.
