Hi my name is Patrick. I've spent all of my adult life as a paraplegic. Life has been difficult but I have persevered through it all. My paralysis was caused buy a rare virus that destroyed the myelin sheath in my spinal cord. I was 22 years old at the time. I have lived on disability and managed to work part-time from my wheelchair to support myself. I have now a torn rotator cuff and need surgery. I cannot take care of myself with this shoulder injury. Insurance will not pay for my skilled nursing stay until the surgery is done. I will need to pay over $11,000 a month until the surgery is done for my care. I will be bankrupt very soon and my assets will be forfeited. I don't have much but I worked hard to make the mortgage payments on my house. I am asking for help to pay for my medical bills so that when I have my surgery I will still have a home to live in.
