Support and Prayers for the Fitzgerald Family

Donation protected

Owen Peter Fitzgerald was born on 5/25/19 and was a happy and healthy 7 month old until he contracted RSV.  Owen was admitted to the hospital on 1/12/2020 with a high fever and breathing problems.  Owen's condition quickly deteriorated as his heart and lungs began to shut down. Owen was placed on life support and was transferred to the PICU unit on 1/13.   Doctors found a blood clot in Owen's leg which had blocked blood flow to his calf and his family is waiting to hear if the lower part of the leg will need to be amputated.  Owen suffered from strokes which has caused seizures. In addition to the RSV, Owen has been diagnosed with a bacterial infection called Group Strep A.  Owen is on a course of antibiotics to clear these toxins from the body.  At this time, Owen's heart and lungs have become stronger enabling him to be removed from life support.  Owen however is still on dialysis to remove fluid from his body and chest tubes to remove air and fluids from his lungs. Owen's parents Jane Cerreta and Mike Fitzgerald are praying and hopeful for him to recover but have been told the recovery will be long and costly.

Tragically, Jane and Mike lost Owen's brother Liam to Noonons Syndrome when Liam was less than a week old.  The fear of losing a second child is indescribable.    As RSV is contagious, Jane and Mike are not able to stay at the Ronald McDonald house located next to the hospital.  They have to leave their three and half year old son Aidan with his grandparents.  Aidan who has Down Syndrome is a happy, alert, and talkative child.  Aidan does require special care and attention.  Leaving Aidan for long periods of time is another challenge Jane and Mike have to overcome.

We are looking to raise money for Jane and Mike to offset their medical expenses so that their full focus can be to care for Owen.  Although Jane and Mike are remaining positive and hopeful, their past experiences can make this extra difficult.  Any size donation would be greatly appreciated.  In addition to monetary donations, they are grateful for prayers of support.
