Over the last few years my fiance and I have been trying to get on our feet after IRS payments and hospital bills turned life from comfortable to a complete nightmare, emergency room visits are not cheap, and PayPal's murky language cost us thousands from transactions we thought were fine. While there is little we can do with the hospital besides pay them what little we can afford, we had talk with tax professionals regarding the IRS, which had gotten under control until we received another letter this year thanks to PayPal and their lack of record keeping. Over the last several months we have been struggling to pay our bills while once again negotiating with the IRS through a third party which costs money on a case by case basis, and once again just last month we thought things were back under control.
Unfortunately we were informed just weeks ago that now we have to find another place to live, which will cost us more money than our current residence by hundreds of dollars a month. Then just this morning I got another letter from the IRS stating that suddenly after having paid on a previous agreement with them, and then renegotiating to include the errors they found with 2017's statement, that now I owe them $6,670.23 by November 11th, 2019. I got in contact with the same firm that has represented me in the past negotiations today as well, and all I was told was that suddenly, after two years of the math being correct, now the math isn't right, so I have to wait for them to contact me with my options and the costs that they will charge.
We are at our wit's end at this point, I have nothing of value that I can sell to meet these totals, no house, no car, no valuables, nothing that would make even half of just the six thousand dollars for next month, not including nearly $3,000 in medical bills, $2,000 for the tax professionals, an estimated $3,000 for the state, $16,488.88 in the tax debt prior to this new letter, and the cost of trying to find a new place to live and afford to eat and clothe ourselves... We both have jobs, my fiance is even trying to find a second just to help pay for a new apartment, and we have long since cut ties with PayPal as a means to make some extra money. I know our irresponsibility put us here, and least when it came to a good portion of the tax debt, but we both just so tired of not knowing what to do, or if we will even be able to live under a roof, GoFundMe was literally something I wanted to turn to only as a last resort because I am not the sort of person to ask, or expect strangers to help me in any way, but we have no where else to turn that we are aware of...
$20,000 is a soft goal, it would at least help us clear the tax debt completely, which is my main concern, with it gone the medical bills and other month to month debt would be easily manageable with both of use working as much as we do. I am usually a quiet man of few words and stoic demeanor, as you might be able to tell from the terrible, hastily taken photo, begging is not something I do, but I can't stand to see the love of my life cry herself to sleep until she just sits there and says nothing from the constant crushing weight of all of this. If you wish to donate, please do it for her if not for me, we just want stability again. We will be happy if this does anything to help us, and if by some miracle we get the full amount, we will be eternally grateful to everyone that helped us.
I know the box on the side of the screen while I'm typing this says "Explain how soon we need the funds", it is a little hard to say for certain, the IRS wants at least the six thousand and change by the 11th, but I have no idea what the tax relief people will tell me in the coming days. I also understand that it is nearing Christmas, people are saving for gifts for their loved ones as well and getting ready for all of their family dinners, so I know money is probably tight for just about everyone, but even a little adds up, and getting as close to the goal as possible will help us out.
Please, if you can afford to give, and if you feel the desire to help, we will humbly accept it.
Thank you.
