We are NohoRobo, an ambitious robotics team from North Hollywood High School in Los Angeles, California! We participate in the annual FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) every year as one of Southern California's leading student-run teams! We are a tightly-knit group of high schoolers who have come together for our love of robotics and STEM. Our team was established in 2010 and since then we have grown into a diverse, innovative, and versatile family.
Since we are a fully student-run team, we must fundraise and apply for grants ourselves to attain the money necessary to function. Due to our gracious donors, we are able to buy robot materials, which include power tools, raw materials such as wood, plastic, and metal, and various mechanical and electronic components from online FIRST Robotics distributors in preparation for our upcoming competitions. We anticipate the cost to be around $10,000 to build the robot for our 2 regional competitions, in the upcoming 2023-2024 season. However, if we advance to the championships this year, this would mean we need another $7,000 to account for travel fees, competition registration, and robot materials. Considering these costs and current funding, for now, we hope to receive $6,000 from donations.
We have constructed partnerships with mentors in industry whose companies then provide us with funding in differing tiers:
$50-$499 (Bronze Sponsor): Name on team website
$500-$999 (Silver Sponsor): Name on social media + Bronze
$1000-$1499 (Gold Sponsor): Name on team merch + Silver
$1500-$1999 (Diamond Sponsor): Name on robot + Gold
$2000 or more (Platinum Sponsor): Name part of official team title, special social media/event exposure + Diamond
Each year we aim to expand our team's abilities to develop robotics mechanisms. This year, we hope to expand by prototyping and manufacturing a new drive, known as a swerve drive. Sourcing and constructing materials for this expansion demand a bigger budget for metal tubing, the facilities to laser cut our designs, the appropriate motors to power this device, etc., while ensuring the maintenance of other mechanical systems.
Any amount helps and we appreciate all the support and donations!
