Please support my sister Brittany & her husband with their journey in slaying the cancer beast!
For some time, my sister Brittany Hills Long, has been having difficulty swallowing, choking, breathing regularly & would have coughing spells & sometimes completely lose her voice mid-sentence. Being the trooper that she is, she continued on working hard for everyone else, raising her girls & supporting her family, fighting this off with her sarcasm & thought it would "just go away".
As she grew more tired of her symptoms & they become harder to hide, she promised her husband that she'd place priority on her health & made an appointment to see an ENT. On November 25th, 2015 she had her first appointment of many over the course of the holidays. She went on to have swallow tests, gerd tests, scans & finally found through an ultrasound of her thyroid that there was a nodule on the left lobe of her thyroid. After needle biopsies by ultrasound, they found microcalcifications in the tumor and also that the tumor was pushing on the nerve that runs to her voice box.
On December 18th, 2015, 25 minutes into the opening showing of Star Wars, she stepped out to take a phone call from her doctor who called to tell her that the pathology reports were in & that she had Papillary Thyroid Cancer. She says she'll always have to laugh at the surreal moment where she found out she got to battle cancer, while Darth Vader, Chewey & Princess Leia were roaming the halls of the Cinemark with her; thinking..."I got this!!"
She has begun the fight of her life & will no doubt slay this beast called cancer. But it is still that, a fight. Even with the best insurances, it is also an expensive one. Brittany has her loving husband & two little girls fighting with her, along with her family & dear friends. Due to the expenses that come with cancer treatment & hospital bills, we are asking for your donation in support of Brittany & Japheth. Any generosity is so greatly appreciated. Thank you!
