A high quailty early childhood experience can literally be life changing for a young child. A great teacher can provide the tools for a student to learn to think criticially and, later, fully engage in our democratic society.
Educating young children has always been a passion of mine, and I am excited to announce that I will be returning to the classroom in the Fall of 2015. VanNess Elementary will be a brand new school serving the residents of the Navy Yard in Washington, DC. VanNess is a DC Public School that will open with prek and kidnergarten classrooms. I will have the privlidge of teaching Prek-3 students.
After a decade of teaching, I left the classroom to serve as an administrator, and, in doing so, donated all of my teaching tools to new and under-resourced teachers. Now, I'm returning with an incredibly limited amount of materials. While DCPS will be providing many items for the new classroom, some things they won't be able to provide are really essential to the work I do with kids. All donations will go directly to the purchase of tools students will use regularly. With your help, the transition back to teaching will be as seamless as possible.
Thank you so much for your consideration!
Sincerely,
Mr. Scott
