I am starting this campaign for my mother, Barbara Ruble. She is an amazing woman who gives with all her heart. She has been a mother and a champion for so many children over the years! She is the kindest, most generous person who has sacrificed for others and never asks for help. She worked in hospice for over 10 years and as a nurse for over 30 years. Holding the hands of her patients and their families as they said goodbye. After years of putting others first, she met the most amazing blue-eyed gentlemen. David Ruble came into our lives 14 years ago, he instantly won us over with his quick wit and the way he looked at my mom. He was the most amazing father a girl could ever want! He had a laugh that was contagious! A real man's man who never met a stranger, was always smiling and who loved with all his heart. My father proudly served his country in the Vietnam War from 1968-1971 with an honorable discharge as an E5.
In 2018 my father was diagnosed with dementia. Not long after my mother began to have serious heart problems as well as severe arthritis from years of being on her feet as a nurse. Over the years dad began to get progressively worse. In November of 2021 during a dementia episode, my father started a fire to burn boxes. He became confused as to what he was doing and left the fire unattended. Soon after my mother arrived home to see smoke and flames. Luckily the fire was contained before it could take the house. They lost years of memories and antiques in their shed, parts of a fence, and their siding melted exposing the house in an unsafe way. Unfortunately, due to my mother's health issues, she was unable to work and their homeowner's insurance had been canceled just a few weeks before.
On February 5, 2022, we lost my father unexpectedly due to his dementia. He left behind so many people who love him and unfortunately the mess from the fire. With my mother’s health issues she is unable to work anymore and is living with very limited funds. She is also the caregiver for my 46-year-old cousin with a lifelong intellectual disability.
I am calling upon all of my friends, family, service women/men, those who have loved or lost someone with dementia, and all you strangers who want to help us bring my mother's home back to life! All funds donated will go towards fixing all the damages done by the fire. Please help us show my mother, who has given so much, that she has a community that will rally behind her.
Thank you so much for reading our story! For anyone local who can not donate money, but would like to donate their time, we would be grateful to have it. You can contact me by posting since I am not allowed to add my email address here.
