Help Nelly Get A SmartDrive MX2

Hey everyone! My name is Nelly and I'm trying to raise funds for a SmartDrive MX2 device! A SmartDrive MX2 is a power assist device that attaches to the back of a manual wheelchair and helps users go up hills and ramps, and cover extended distances without having to push.

I injured my left arm and shoulder in a fall caused by slipping while using my crutches in September 2020 and it hasn't been the same since. My left arm mobility was drastically reduced. My right arm is working more to compensate for the lack of strength, so I've been noticing more discomfort and less mobility in it.

It takes a lot of upper body strength and mobility to use a manual wheelchair since it uses repetitive motions to push. It puts stress on the shoulders and can lead to issues in the future. A SmartDrive would reduce the number of pushes and the chances of injuring my arms further.

A SmartDrive MX2 device would help me deal with hills, rough roads, long distances, and carpet. I have a wooden ramp to get inside my apartment. The ramp is steep and unsafe.

I need someone to be at home to help me up the ramp. If nobody is home, I have to wait outside until someone gets there. If I have a SmartDrive device, it would allow me to get into my apartment safely and independently.

The device would also keep me exercising by still being able to use my arms to push. Using public transportation with a SmartDrive Mx2 would also make it safer for me since the buses use ramps for wheelchair access and it is compact enough to be used with Lyft/Uber.

I'm also out in the community frequently. I work for a non-profit organization - providing services to youth with disabilities. I attend conferences and outreaches at my job. The use of a Smartdrive would help me conserve energy throughout those events.

Having access to a SmartDrive MX2 would assist me in my day-to-day responsibilities, such as traveling to my full-time job and attending to everyday activities such as running errands or meeting with friends and family.

I cannot afford to purchase it on my own due to its expense and I don't have the credit score to take out loans. My insurance will also not cover it.
